DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RYT & CYT? RYT & E-RYT?
RYT vs. CYT
RYT stands for “registered yoga teacher”. if you are not registered on Yoga Alliance, and are certified to teach yoga, you would use CYT which stands for “certified yoga teacher”.
200 or 500 accreditation
Yoga Alliance has a 200-hour accreditation~ for people who have completed a 200-hour teacher training course, and registered their certification with Yoga Alliance.
there is a 500-hour accreditation~ for people who have completed a 200-hour + 300-hour or a 500-hour teacher training course.
Dharma Yoga has teacher trainings that are 800 + 1000 hours.
if you are registered with Yoga Alliance, you would be either RYT200 or 500. no other amount of hours follow RYT. if you have trained many other hours you could write~ ex: “E-RYT500. 1000 training hours.” or if you are not registered with Yoga Alliance you could write~ ex: “certified yoga teacher. 1000 training hours.”
what’s an E-RYT?
when you see the letter E precede RYT it means “experienced”, and this is for teachers who are certified and registered under Yoga Alliance, who have taught more than a certain amount of hours. E-RYT 200 means a registered Yoga Alliance teacher has 1000+ hours and 2+ years of teaching experience since completing their 200-hr training.
E-RYT 500 means a registered Yoga Alliance teacher has 2000+ hours and 4+ years of teaching experience since completing their 200-hr or 500-hr training.
