Our Wax

We use a combination of hard-wax + strip-wax ensuring a gentle service for our clients. The waxes contain Titanium Dioxide to reduce redness and are great on highly sensitive areas, and on all skin-types.

Strip-wax is also referred to as soft-wax and hard-wax is also referred to as hot-wax. By using both kinds of wax, we are able to customize services for each client, depending on their skin and hair-type.

Cleanliness

We have always adopted far stricter cleaning and sterilization protocols than what the legislation calls for in our industry. We never double-dip and strict anti-cross-contamination policies are in effect. Our tools are always properly cleaned and soaked between each client, we use disposable bottle bags during tx, and keep our wax rooms spotless. Only the most experienced waxers and skin therapists work at our shop. Our techniques, waxes, and care for our clients’ comfort have raised the standard of the skin care + waxing industry.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We offer full-body waxing for men, women, non-binary and trans clients.

  • Plan ahead! Ensure the day of your appointment you are well-fed, well-hydrated, avoid excess caffeine the day of and get a good night’s sleep the nights before. Ensuring these elements will increase your pain-tolerance.

  • If your last wax was longer than 5 weeks ago, please trim the hairs a week before your waxing appointment. This will ensure all hairs are long enough to be waxed by the time you come in. Do not trim the hairs the day of, or if you do- please do not trim the hairs too short.

  • From shaving, the lead up to your first appointment will be the most annoying because all your hairs are strong and thick from shaving and you will need to grow that shit out for three weeks! If that doesn’t seem possible for you, two weeks of growth is the minimum. Not waiting three weeks will result in some of the hairs not coming out due to being too short. So there is a benefit to only waiting two weeks. Half the strongest hairs will come out on your first wax, then the other half of your strongest hairs will come out during your second wax. Then once your hairs are all on track with their growth cycle from waxing, the appointments become a breeze.

  • Yes! Do not cancel an appointment because of an unexpected period. It is safe and clean to get waxed while you are menstruating. Just be prepared by wearing a fresh tampon. It will not hurt more.

  • Different studios name their services differently. Here is an explanation of the bikini waxing services at CoalitionSkin to help you select which one you’d like to book.

    • A bikini line is the removal of hair from the leg crease to 3 inches outward. Basically the hairs that would be visible frontal view while wearing a bikini.

    • A Brazilian is when you want the labia hairs and ass crack hairs removed. As for the hair on the pubic bone, you can either take it all off, keep a strip or a triangle. These styles are all considered Brazilians.

    • A custom bikini gives the broadest range of options and the price is a sliding scale based on what you are getting done. Imagine something between the bikini line and the Brazilian wax. Remove the hair off the sides, take down the top, with the option of waxing the ass crack hair or not.

  • Lies! Yes you can get your scrotum waxed. You can very safely do so at CoalitionSkin. We use hard wax which is the only safe method for the scrotum area. Hard wax only adheres to the hairs and not to the skin. Hard wax plus our scrotum-waxing technique will give a successful and not-as-painful-as-you’d-imagine ball-wax.

  • At CoalitionSkin we use two types of wax. Strip wax and hard wax. All waxes used here are of the highest quality available and are made in Canada. Our waxes are NOT mass-produced, shitty-quality waxes that many studios choose to use to cut their costs. Our clients notice a big difference with our waxes vs. the norm; during the service, the end result and the after-math. We are happy and proud to keep you smooth and stoked.

  • Yes the rumours are true! When Miley was in Vancouver for her Bangerz Tour in 2014, Annik, the founder, was sought out to wax Miley. Annik said, “Omg Miley is so lovely. Such a down and nice person. I brought my own music to play instead of the hotel spa music. She was stoked on my jogging playlist that I had named “A$$ Pussy Playlist”. Especially when Luda’s My Chick Bad came on. Meeting Miley turned me into a big fan even though I don’t listen to pop music. Miley stands for movements that align w me such as veganism, advocating for animals, LGBTQ+, being yourself, so I’m pretty stoked on her as a human.”
